Check Out and Renewals

Check Out Limits

  • Patrons are limited to a total of 20 itmes checked out and 20 items on hold.
  • Of those 20 items, DVDs, videos, and music CDs are limited to 5 items each and 2 items of software.
  • These limits also apply to placing materials on hold.

Check Out Periods

  • DVDs, videos, music CDs and software are limited to a 7-day checkout period.
  • All other items may be checked out for 2 weeks.

Renewals

  • Renewals are not allowed on DVDs, videos, music CDs and software.
  • All other items may be renewed up to 2 times if no one else has reserved them. Items may be renewed several ways:
    • In person at the Check Out Desk
    • By telephone at 750-8180
    • Over the Internet using our Online Catalog. Click "Your Records" and follow the online instructions.
  • Requesting Items That Are Checked Out

    You may reserve an item that is checked out to someone else or is available at another Washington County library. Requests may be made:

    When the item becomes available, we will contact you by phone, mail, or e-mail. DVDs, videos, music CDs and software will be held for 2 days; all other items will be held for 5 days.

    Requesting Items That Are Not Owned by the Library

    If the item you want is not available at the Springdale Public Library or the Washington County Library System, it may be possible to borrow it from another library. Ask a librarian or call 750-8180 for more information.

    Returning Materials

    You may return library materials to any Washington County Library System member library. A convenient book drop is available 24 hours a day at the front entrance of the Springdale Public Library.

    Please return library materials on time. If you are late returning materials, you will be charged overdue fines.

    Late Fees

    • The late charge for books is 10 cents per day (with a maximum charge of $2.00 per item)
    • The late charge for all audio-visual materials is $1.00 per day (with a maximum charge of $7.00 per item). Audio-visual materials include videos, DVDs, music cassettes, CDs, and computer software.

    Please pay fines promptly to avoid accumulation. If you owe the Library more than $5.00, your borrowing privileges will be suspended. You may view your account information over the Internet through the Online Catalog. To see if you have any fines, click "Your Records" and follow the online instructions.

    Lost or Damaged Materials

    If an item is lost or damaged beyond repair, you will be charged for its replacement.
