CHILDREN’S MULTICULTURAL OUTREACH LIBRARIAN – The Springdale Public Library is currently accepting applications until August 23rd, at 4:00 p.m. for a Children’s Multicultural Outreach Librarian. Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Library Science or a related field and three years of related experience or training. In addition, the applicant must be fluent in Spanish or Marshallese and English and be able to pass a proficiency exam.
The Children’s Multicultural Outreach Librarian serves as a member of the Children’s Services Team with proficiency in using the Integrated Library System, the scheduling and print management system and online databases. They assist Spanish and/or Marshallese speaking clientele and visit multicultural groups in all settings. They conduct programs for Spanish and/or Marshallese speaking children in Spanish and/or Marshallese and English. They must be able to translate all library publications, including newsletters and website pages. They will select Spanish and/or Marshallese language materials and manage the Library’s multicultural collections. They serve as liaison to the Hispanic and Marshallese community leaders.
